◎简 介
故事发生在20世纪的法国南方，尤果林（丹尼尔·奥图 Daniel Auteuil 饰）和叔叔塞萨（伊夫·蒙当 Yves Montand 饰）觊觎令居老人家肥沃的土地多时，终于设计将其害死。令两人没有想到的是，看似无亲无故的老人竟然有一位名叫若望（杰拉尔·德帕迪约 Gér ard Depardieu 饰）的儿子，而若望的母亲不是别人，正是塞萨那曾经将他抛弃的旧情人，对此，塞萨一直怀恨在心，一生未娶。 若望带着妻子艾美（Elisabeth Depardieu 饰）和女儿玛侬（Ernestine Mazurowna 饰）来到了乡间，善良的他完全没有注意到塞萨叔侄的恶意，过着无忧无虑的生活。塞萨将灌溉若望家天地的水源截断，若望的田地枯竭、牲畜渴死，焦急中若望一病不起撒手人寰，伤心的艾美离开了这伤心地，塞萨和尤果林终于如愿得到了土地，然而，这两家人之间的纠葛却并没有就此结束。
