What if the apocalypse wasn’t just some distant, world-ending catastrophe, but something much closer to home. Maybe it's modern life, the way we treat each other, ourselves and the environment. Oh My Sun formed in 2022 by vocalist-songwriter Carmody and guitarist-producer Tal Janes. Searching for a more analog remedy to post digital lockdown isolation, the duo began writing songs together with an acoustic guitar and note pad. Connecting over their love for 70’s music, the environment, grandparents, love and loss, they created a batch of songs which formed their debut album ‘Apocalypse Baby', a colourful and playful take on modern life.
Recorded during a three-day session at Giant Wafer Studios in rural Wales, the tracks were captured live as a band—vocals, guitar, bass, and drums—bringing a raw, in-the-room energy inspired by Alabama Shakes & the ‘Get Back’ documentary by The Beatles Adding to the album’s organic feel, at times you can hear the sounds of bugs, sheep, and birds from outside seep into the recordings. The tracks were later produced at Tal’s studio in Tottenham, bringing in synths, additional vocals, guitar layers and production, whilst keeping the raw recordings at the forefront.
