.Notes
- Dirty pixels fixed by balanceborders.
- Three frames of Pepsi advert that mysteriously inserted in opening credits
replaced with their adjacencies.
- Black levels lowered by 0/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/10/12 (8-bit scale) with
Smoothlevels16 and U plane shifted -1/0/1 (8-bit scale) with Smoothtweak16
to respectively soothe washouts and/or slight yellow/blue tint presented in
different frames/shots (some with one filter, some with both, and only a few
with neither). Implemented in double conditionalfilter calls after going
through the whole film shot by shot four times. Only a couple of frames
(pure black) at the beginning and the end untouched.
* It was tedious and boring picking, comparing, testing, checking,
again and again, in consideration of details in dark, black/white balance,
skin tone, perceptual uniformity of adjacent shots/scenes, and blablabla.
I was just doing some sparing corrections but I‘m no expert or colorist.
My amateurishness, in conjunction with the lazy monster inside, should have
definitely led to misses, false alarms and over/under-treatments
here and there, no matter how meticulous I tried/pretended to be.
* This HD remaster was claimed to be supervised by cinematographer
Takashi Kawamata. Guess the cameraman might have enlightened the mastering
mostly by observing the GIFs sent by Shochiku in Yahoo Mail. #JustSayin
- Original monaural sound restored.
* Thought I gotta leave a note about my habitual monophonic operation.
