史蒂文.索德伯格(Steven Soderbergh)不仅在半自传体的《性、谎言和录像带》和《兹佐伯利斯一家》（由其一家三口主演的影片，表现他们的家庭生活）中积极剖析自己的生活，还主动承认自己在《卡夫卡》、《控制之下》和《兹佐伯利斯一家》中所进行的艺术实验没有让观众满意，但他坚信这三部影片连同他的早期短片对他的事业及成长至关重要。
史蒂文.索德伯格(Steven Soderbergh)1986年所执导的作品，成为当年电影的票房毒药。本片又取名《变态城》，确实片中的BT镜头令人费解。例如：光着屁股在大街上骑自行车，在床上拒绝和妻子做爱，而自渎，等等场面确实有够变态。很多朋友看完这部作品感觉凌乱，不明白什么意思。导演肯定有他自己的意图，要不这部片子也不叫《变态城》了，呵呵。本片中由导演索德伯格本人的亲身担任主要演出，并且饰演了两个重要的角色，男主角生活凌乱，思想变态。
