◎简 介
GLOBAL公司派遣员工Steve Butler（马特·达蒙 Matt Damon 饰）和Sue Thomason（弗兰西斯·麦克多蒙德 Frances McDormand 饰）到一个以农业为经济支柱却蕴含丰富天然气资源的小镇，试图说服当地居民和GLOBAL公司合作，一起开采天然气，此举也将振兴当地的经济。Steve本以为这是水到渠成的事情，却遭到了当地高中的一名教科学的老师Frank（哈尔·霍尔布鲁克 Hal Holbrook 饰）的反对，Frank提出要整个镇上的人进行投票，以决定是否开始天然气的开采。而一名来自环保组织“雅典娜”的年轻人Dustin Noble（约翰·卡拉辛斯基 John Krasinski 饰）的突然出现，他以自己家乡因为开采石油气而遭到破坏为证据，更加剧了当地人民对开采天然气的抵触。Steve在当地认识的一名颇有好感的女性Alice（罗丝玛丽·德薇特 Rosemarie DeWitt 饰）似乎也对他失去了信任。Steve能否顺利完成公司的任务？
